about
I was inspired to write this song from hearing the music and learning about the life of Dennis Wilson. It's not about any one person but loosely how we can be beset by demons that even with our best intentions are hard to shake off and leave behind.
lyrics
I can get mad
Say things I don’t mean
You know how we are
Know how it’s been
But we’re good together
That’s what they say
Forever would be nice
I’d take one more day
Take one more day
That picture of you
Is just out of reach
The one where we laughed
As we walked on the beach
We danced in the sparks
By the fire on the shore
Until dawn and the ocean
Weren’t just ours anymore
Deep ocean blue
Deep ocean blue
How deep was the love
That I had for you?
If I hold my breath now
Just a little bit more
Get so far deep down
To touch the sea floor
Will you come back
And would you be mine
Give me a chance
To make it right this time
But when I look up
To the top of the sea
Broken pieces of glass
Are looking at me
The light in your smile
Those emerald eyes
But the deeper I get
The further the prize
If there is one thing
That I wanted to keep
It’s the feeling we had
Now lost to the deep
But who am I kidding
Times are gone now
I’d come up smiling
But I weigh myself down
I’d come up smiling
But I weigh myself down
Deep ocean blue
Deep ocean blue
How deep was the love
That I had for you?
Deep ocean blue
Deep ocean blue
How deep was the love
That I had for you?
